Following on from our recent articles regarding community recycling bins and the correct management of garden refuse, below are details of how to dispense of other items used at work or in our personal lives in San Pedro Alcántara.
The information below is particularly helpful for restaurants and other businesses that deal with food oil, or for families wanting to safely dispose of computer equipment. The main organisations listed provide a free collection service or drop off point.
Oil Waste
The town hall provides containers for the safe disposal of used oil in various locations across town and the surrounding region. These special bins are usually coloured orange and white and are suitable for the deposit of oils generated by frying or processing food in general. Do not use these containers to deposit motor oils used to power machinery.
Furniture and other household items
Without the required authority you are not legally permitted to dispose of furniture in this part of Spain, however there are helpful and easy systems in place to assist you as follows:

Free Service: to use this service provided by San Pedro’s Town Hall (Tenencia de Alcaldía San Pedro Alcántara) please note the following:

PUNTO LIMPIO MOVIL
This company provides a service to collect and recycle oil and general items of household waste for the residents of San Pedro, which is mobile and free of charge!
In addition to furniture and oil waste they will take :
- computer monitors and keyboards
- batteries: car, alkaline and button
- printer toner cartridges
- scrap metal
- aerosol spray cans
- lamps and bulbs
- solvents and paint
- x-rays
However it is a good idea to contact them if the item you need to dispose of is not on this list as they might be able to help.
