No, it’s not a political party – Unión Deportiva San Pedro is the local pride, which plays its home games at the Studio Municipal on the way to La Campania. The football club founded in 1974 and sporting the black-and-red striped shirts, black shorts and black socks we know from international big hitters AC Milan is a real community sports club with an emphasis on youth and family.
Participation and engagement are good, with the youth teams consistently performing well and the first team playing in group IX of the Terceira Division, which with almost British contradiction is actually the fourth division. As such, San Pedro has regularly outperformed its larger sibling in Marbella, making it a club that tends to punch above its weight.
The ground is small but charming, with an inclusive amateur feel to it rather than the cold/hot concrete stands found in some parts of Spain. If you want to enrol your kids in a local team, would like to watch the occasional game of regional football or like to see your local team sparring with famous British and European clubs during the summer pre-season period, then UD San Pedro offers it all in a friendly, easy-going setting with classic sea and mountain views to boot.
