The Elena Benítez Sports Pavilion will host the 7th edition of the Sunny Dance sports dance festival on July 1
1,050 dancers and some 1,500 audience members from all over Spain will participate in the event.
The head of the Fiestas of San Pedro Alcántara, María Guerra, has announced the seventh edition of Sunny Dance Festival, which will take place at the Elena Benítez Sports Pavilion on Sunday July 1st. Although this sports dance championship celebrates its seventh edition, it is the second consecutive year it has been celebrated in San Pedro Alcántara. The parties responsible for securing the event say the importance of such initiatives is for the additional tourism it brings to San Pedro and the extra business it produces when two to three thousand people arrive, book accommodation and visit the local bars and restaurants.
Guerra has been accompanied by the organisers of the Sunny Dance festival, Vicente Masegosa and Soraya García. Masegosa pointed out, “this year we have exceeded last year’s total participation and this year there will be 1,050 dancers and some 1,500 people from the general public. In total, we expect some 3,000 people from all parts of Spain, which will help promote San Pedro and will serve to activate the local economy.
On the day before the championship, June 30, different training events will take place. World-renowned sports dance figures will participate who will make up the judges for the championship on July 1.
The event will start at 11.00 and you can participate in 7 different categories: baby (up to 7 years old), children (from 8 to 11 years old), cadet (from 12 to 14 years old), junior (from 15 to 17 years old), open (from 18 years old), premium (parents and moms from 30 years old) and mega crew (groups from 21 participants).
In this competition the jury mainly looks at the choreography and technique but also takes into account staging, costumes, music and charisma, among other elements when they are scoring the dancers.
