The international tourism trade fair – FITUR, held its 39th event in Madrid last week with over 10,000 exhibitors attending from 165 countries. Together with the attendance of over 7,000 journalists and over 110,000 members of the public passing through the doors, proves the importance of the event as the largest international tourism fair in Spain.
San Pedro town hall made an official presentation at FITUR, with the presence of the deputy mayor among other town hall representatives that included Marbella’s mayoress. Under the banner of Disfruta San Pedro (Enjoy San Pedro), the presentation was based on sports, gastronomic and cultural tourism, showcasing and promoting the diverse tourism offer in the San Pedro Alcántara area.
One of the upcoming events presented at FITUR was the World Paddle Tour (WPT), which will be hosted in San Pedro from 16th to 24th March. A very important event for the town, an agreement has been reached with the organisers for San Pedro to be the tour venue for the next three years as well.
Also announced was the Spanish Chess Championship to be held in October with the participation of the top 200 chess players and the second edition of flamenco show Corazón Flamenco, which will take place in September. Furthermore, a new edition of the ArtFest street festival will take place during the spring and summer.
All of these prestigious events highlight the importance of San Pedro as a centre of culture and tourism, in addition to being the perfect setting to enjoy the sun and beach environments.
