This year’s Noche de San Juan will be celebrated in San Pedro de Alcantára with a huge music festival.
The deputy mayor Rafael Piña and director of culture, Gema Midón announced that ‘San Juan Fest’ will be the first edition of the event, which will see San Pedro become the centre of the San Juan celebrations up and down the coast for this very special night.
This year San Juan falls on a Saturday, meaning it is easier to mark the day with a special festival late into the night. The idea is to encourage both residents of San Pedro as well as neighbouring areas to come and enjoy a great party on the beach at La Salida.
San Juan Fest
The event will be called San Juan Fest and it will begin at 7.00pm, continuing right in to the early hours of the following morning until 4.00am. It will have an extensive program of live performances that brings together local artists like 29seis70. There will also be national groups such as Sex Museum; Do Not Step On Me I’m Wearing Flip Flops and Aslándticos. The party is designed to cut across all age groups and musical tastes.
Because it is likely to be very well attended there will be a wide security deployment, a dedicated area for bathrooms, a larger number of bars and extended opening hours. “Of course, there will be a bonfire on the beach of La Salida to continue the tradition and the Brotherhood of San Pedro will have its usual bar.” said Midón.
