Private security for public spaces in San Pedro Alcántara

The City of Marbella is hiring private security for twenty-eight public spaces in San Pedro Alcántara in a contract worth 1.4 million euros over a four-year duration.

Marbella town hall is to place private security guards in 28 public spaces in San Pedro Alcántara, including parks and gardens as well as the seafront promenade, squares, the climbing wall, the early Christian basilica and other archaeological sites.

The project is led by Marbella’s Deputy Mayor Rafael Piña, and the intention is to provide the public spaces with greater guarantees of security, control and to stop vandalism. Companies in the security sector have been invited to submit their proposals.

A total of 28 points have been chosen by the town hall in which the winning security company will operate its services 365 days a year with a further six unarmed guards to cover six high risk zones that have been identified by the council. Some of the venues are large parks such as the boulevard, as well as smaller ones like the Elena Benítez sports centre playground and the Virgen del Rocío dog park.
