The Mayor’s Office of San Pedro Alcántara is proud to promote the first phase of the Energy Efficiency Plan to adapt all the lights to LED technology in areas that still do not have this infrastructure. The Deputy Mayor of Sampedreño, Javier García, explained that the main objective of the initiative is energy improvement, since these lights consume 75% less electricity and allow automation of lighting needs, because they are self-regulating and do not have the same intensity throughout the ignition period, which then has significant savings in electricity costs.
In addition to the cost saving it was stressed that it also represents an aesthetic modernisation of the town because it will be necessary that both the optical equipment and the body of the lamp will need to be replaced, giving the streets a new image.
The mayor has highlighted that the new measure is something that they are committed to because of sustainability, since Led technology substantially reduces the emission of carbon dioxide, which is important for global warming.
The first phase will have a completion period of five months and will involve the installation of 300 streetlights and 350 pieces of Led optical equipment. Specifically, it will take place on the Paseo Marítimo; the Avenida del Mediterráneo; Santa Isabel and Illescas Pavón streets, in Fuentenueva, and Eduardo Evangelista and Córdoba streets.
