For the first time next week San Pedro Alcántara is holding the ‘San Pedro, Corazón Flamenco’ event, an initiative that aims to bring authentic Spanish culture back to the streets. The event takes place from 8th to 13th of October in different locations across the town.
Organised by the Town Hall’s Cultural & Youth delegation it promises a week full of activities, workshops, performances, exhibitions, master classes and a flash mob all related to flamenco. Bringing Flamenco closer to the residents of San Pedro as well as visitors and tourists.
The programme includes some very important names in the flamenco world such as Sonia Berbel, Marta Álvarezm and Argentina but also local artists representing the Escuela de Flamenco de Andalucía.
The opening takes place on Monday October 8th in the Trapiche de Guadaiza with the exhibition called ‘Flamenco in Black’ by José Ramón Zapata (Zacha) and a conference of the National Flamenco Award in 2010 held by Manuel Bohórquez at 20:30hrs.
The second day is dedicated to local artists with shows by Juan José Alcantara at 19:00hrs in the Plaza Adolfo Luque Chicote, and Sonia Berbel at 20:00hrs in the Plaza de la Libertad.
The 10th of October continues the spectacular flamenco week with a performance by Rebeca Lauret and Manuela Utrera at 20:00hrs in the Plaza de Istán. On Thursday 11th enjoy amazing flamenco performances by Luis El Rubio, Camarón de Pitita, Rebeca Lauret and Curro Román at 20:00hrs in the Pasaje Robledano. The day finishes at 21:00hrs in the Boulevard of San Pedro with a theatrical show called ‘Quejío’, an adaptation from the works of Salvador Távora that through singing and dancing recreates the hardships of the Andalusian people of the 1970s.
On Friday join flamenco master classes ‘Inclusive Flamenco’ by Fuentesana ‘La Moneta’ and José Galán and finish the day with a flamenco show at 22:30hrs at the San Pedro Boulevard Amphitheatre, which unites three great figures of flamenco dance, ‘Guadiana’ on vocals, Juan Habichuela Nieto on guitar and dancing by Marta Álvarez.
The final day begins at 11:00hrs with a master classes by Manuel Parrilla in the Centro Cultural de San Pedro and by Juan de Juan in the Centro Municipal de Danza. At 13:30hrs join a flash mob with dancer Jorge Galán on the Avenida Marqués del Duero. Anybody can join this performance the, choreography can be found here.
To finish off the week of flamenco, at 20:30hrs the Bouvelard of San Pedro will hold a premiere of the show by Daniel Doña ‘Psique’ and at 21:30hrs one of the most famous Spanish flamenco singers Argentina will be presenting her fifth album ‘La vida del artista’.
