Football San Pedro’s main professional football club, Union Deportiva San Pedro, offers classes for children of all ages from 5 to 18 years. UD San Pedro trains at the municipal football stadium just on the outskirts of the town, on the way to the La Campana area, with smaller football pitches for the children to train.
Palacio de Deportes San Pedro (also known as Pabellón Deportivo) San Pedro also has a municipal sports pavilion where all kinds of lessons are held, again, for children of all ages starting at 5 years and upwards. These are available at a moderate price but places are limited and are quickly booked up by the locals, so get there as soon as possible to check out all the options. Sports on offer include indoor football (futbol sala), volleyball, tennis, paddle tennis, karate, fencing, swimming and rhythmic gymnastics amongst many others.
Additionally, most public and private schools usually offer afterschool activities too, so check with your child’s school or with AMPA (all public schools have a parent association or AMPA, Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos), who can advise you on timetables and prices. They all generally feature several sports in one class (multi deporte), but for those not so keen on sports, schools also have other choices such as theatre, computers, languages, board games, painting and even support lessons for kids who are having difficulty during the school day in subjects such as maths.
