Experience authentic cuisine in San Pedro

San Pedro is in full swing this summer season and restaurants are busy with tourists and locals enjoying the town’s great gastronomy offer. As we have published in previous blogs, San Pedro enjoys an abundance of restaurants, especially with many new businesses opening in the old town and close to the boulevard. But if you fancy something different and are thinking of moving away from the more up scale restaurants on offer, why not try a typical Spanish restaurant or chiringuito (beach restaurant), where the local villagers go to eat. They offer traditional food at good prices and here is a list of interesting places to visit:

Chiringuito Guayaba Beach:
Urb. Linda Vista Baja – Tel. 952 784 969
Nice place to sink your toes in the sand while enjoying a busy and happy atmosphere. Set on San Pedro’s beach, this beach restaurant is highly visited by locals who often choose it for parties and celebrations. It’s great for espetos (barbecued sardines) and gazpacho (cold tomato soup). See review

La Cocina de Santos:
C/ Avila, 1 – Tel. 951 196 029
This is a family restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and good service. They make homemade food with quality ingredients at a great price. The portions are huge but you can also order half portions so that you can try several dishes at the same time.

LA + FRIA :
C/Linda Vista, 42 – Tel. 952 784 669
Serving the coldest beer (hence the name) is one of the best places when it comes to good food. They have three different establishments in Marbella, Puerto Banús and San Pedro, and this one is in the same square as La Cocina de Santos. It has a very varied, classic menu, with all kinds of seafood, fresh fish and montaditos (small bread buns with different fillings).

Bar Coca:
C/ Tolox, 4 – Tel. 653 963 159
From the outside it just looks like a normal bar, but they have a small terrace with fast service and good quality homemade food, large plates and a great variety. Also recommended for tapas, they specialise in Fritura Malagueña (fresh fried fish, typical of the Málaga area).

Los Ormillos:
Avenida Constitución, 6  – Tel. 650 416 938
Fresh produce with a daily menu right in the centre of the town, with an ample terrace to sit outside and plenty of plants around. A good selection of tapas is available too.

Bodegita er Colega:
Marqués del Duero, s/n
Set in the pedestrian street of the town’s centre, this typical Spanish bodega is good for different tapas, if you wish to try various dishes and great wine selection too.

Panorama restaurant:
C/ Tolox 3 – Tel: 952 785 099
This restaurant is just in front of Bar Coca and has excellent fresh produce, with a nice selection of grilled meats and fish. Watch out for their ox T-bone steak, fresh seafood (marisco) and especially their gambas (shrimps), and one of the nicest tomato salads in the area. They also have an ample terrace to sit outside.

Watch this space for more updates on the best places in town. Buen provecho! (Enjoy your meal!)
