English Products

There is no shortage of shops that cater for expats in the San Pedro area, in fact you can add to the list restaurants ad bars too. If San Pedro does not have something you can feel rest assured that what you are looking for is not too far away.

Let’s of course start with San Pedro and what it has for expats and English speakers in terms of English or Irish food products.

Iceland (Overseas Supermarkets) is located in the Guadalmina commercial and generally specialises in English food products, including Waitrose goods. However, BREXIT has had an impact on getting goods into Spain so they now carry a large range of Irish products, specifically from Supersave.

Staying with food, San Pedro also has an Indian Restaurant called Bombay Grill where you can enjoy the English national dish of Chicken Tikka Masala. If you wanted more traditional food like Fish and Chips, there is not a Fish and Chip shop in San Pedro, you will need to travel about 10 minutes by car to Pegottys Chip Shop in Bena Vista.

However, you could just enjoy some nice fresh, lightly battered fish and fries in any of the Spanish restaurants.
There are a few Irish pubs to choose from in San Pedro, the most famous of which is the Hogan Stand which is located just by the main boulevard. In fact, they also serve traditional fish and chips, with mushy peas!!

If you wanted books in English, again because of BREXIT it is a little more costly to order these items from Amazon as you will be charged an import tax. Luckily in San Pedro in Centro Comercial La Colonia, there is a book shop which has a great selection of the latest titles and lots of other material in English.

In the same commercial centre there is also the English Card Shop where you can purchase all your different birthday cards and other greeting cards, gifts and balloons. If you cannot get the their shop there are a couple of other English greeting card shops on the coast like CardLand, who have also launched their online greeting cards in Spain service.

So if you are missing some of those items you were used to in the UK, San Pedro has some of them on hand, but there is so much joy and fun to be had integrating into the Spanish system and culture too.
