Charity walk in San Pedro for Brittle Bone Syndrome

To mark the occasion of the International Day of Osteogenesis Imperfecta, San Pedro will be holding the II edition of a Charity Walk in favour of the Research of Osteogenesis Imperfecta – commonly referred to as Brittle Bone Syndrome (or in Spain Huesos de Cristal). The walk will take place on Sunday May 6 at the San Pedro Alcántara beach promenade to raise awareness and support the investigation of this disease. All proceeds will go to the Ahuce Foundation to promote research.

The event will serve to raise awareness of a rare disease that effects 1/15,000-20,000 people. These patients represent anything from mild cases with a low number of fractures to severe deformations, multiple fractures and even neonatal fatalities.

The walk will depart from La Pesquera Restaurant on San Pedro’s beach paseo at 11.00am on Sunday 6th May and will cover a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometres; this will be over an easy surface and suitable even for people with reduced mobility. A plate of paella and water will be included at the end of the walk for all participants.

For anyone who would like to participate or help this worthwhile cause, you can purchase tickets or make a donation of 10€ (Bank Account nº ES52 2100 5518 7321 0013 0228 – Concept: “II Caminata”), whether you intend to make the walk or not, which are available at the Tenencia de Alcaldía, in San Pedro’s town hall.

Your generosity & support is really important!
