A guide to the best beach clubs in and around San Pedro

You don’t have to head off out to Marbella or the delights of Nikki Beach to appreciate a great beach club this summer. San Pedro Alcántara has less famous but just as enjoyable beachside hotspots where you can laze, dance, drink or eat the day away.

Each beach club has a different ambience and character so you can choose your venue to suit your mood, the day of the week or how many different age brackets you have in your group. Some offer better food, others focus on great music, a couple are in an idyllic location and a few have the best of everything!

So put on your favourite swimsuit, grab a towel and appropriate footwear (flips flops/high heels/bare feet/crocks) and get in the beachside party mood for a brilliant day at one of San Pedro’s fantastic beach clubs.

Beach Clubs In San Pedro Alcantara

El Ancla Beach Club
El Ancla is a welcoming, beautiful and classy place – a somewhat more refined and grown up version of your normal party beach club. This establishment is perfect for all the family – the grown ups can enjoy the view whilst relaxing on high quality loungers whilst keeping one eye on the kids in the impressive salt water swimming pool. We recommend you reserve a sway in one of El Ancla’s relaxing hammocks – the perfect way to spend an afternoon in the shade – and then later head for their beautiful terrace to eat at El Ancla Restaurant.

El Ancla is situated perfectly on Linda Vista Playa in San Pedro Alcántara.

Bora Bora
This is a strange one. From the outside it looks like it could be the ideal beach club. Each year all tables are set, it is cleaned everyday but hardly anyone goes there.

It has a pool and beach beds but hardly any staff, yet year after year it opens and goes through the same motions. This year (2023) they even decided not to open the pool area.

Would not really recommend this beach club in San Pedro, it is not renowned for food or for anything really.

Ammo Beach Marbella
Alabaradero in San Pedro de Alcantara has leased out the swimming pool area to Ammo Beach Marbella and it is the perfect beach club destination for families. It’s close proximity to the sea (three steps just over the paseo!) is great for children who want to spend some time on the beach as well as by the swimming pool. Ammo Beach has its own menu but uses the restaurant from Alabaradero

Macaao Beach Club
A delightful Dutch bar that ‘takes the chiringuito experience up a few notches’ – this is where the beach club crowd looking for an intimate yet sophisticated experience can locate a comfortable seat, great food and a wonderful view. Macaao is run brilliantly by its friendly caring owners and is known for combining a laid back atmosphere with a friendly first class service. Discover the joyous and cosy delights of Macaao just beyond the west end of Playa de San Pedro Alcántara.

Barbillón Beach Club & Restaurant Marbella
This has just re-opened as Barbillón in 2023 and it is a huge space in Guadalmina Baja overlooking the sea. There are plenty of sunbeds around a smallish pool. But don’t let that put you off as it has a huge restaurant area serving fine dining food.

This is a sophisticated beach club and has certainly drawn in a crowd since opening its doors. Well worth a visit!
