Flamenco in the streets

A new edition of the Flamenco Show ‘La Calle Flamenca’ (The Flamenco Streets) is currently taking place. Organised by San Pedro Alcántara Town Hall’s Cultural & Youth delegation in collaboration with the flamenco dance school of Marta Álvarez this is its 4th edition. So for the next three Thursdays – 23rd & 30th of August, and the 6th of September – there is free Flamenco for everyone to enjoy.

The participating dancers include teacher Marta Álvarvez together with Pedro Heredia, Carmen Escalona and Andreas Morales; with Daniel Ruiz and Sonia Berbel singing, and Samuel Iglesias and Rubén Escalona on guitar. Already a part of the town’s annual cultural agenda, this year is special as the story of  San Pedro Alcántara will be told through flamenco dance performances.

Focused mainly on the historic founding figure of Marqués del Duero you will see how the children enjoyed themselves during that period dancing within different flamenco styles (palos del flamenco) from the ‘malagueñas, seguidillas and bulerías ‘.

Completely free of charge, this festival of Flamenco music enables all of the town’s residents and visitors to enjoy the art of Flamenco directly within its streets, as well as promoting outdoor cultural and leisure activities.
