The Marbella Town Hall has published a municipal order relating to the night of San Juan in order to establish a series of mandatory regulations which, also includes the authorisation in a total of six beaches where controlled bonfires can be made. The main objective is to protect and guarantee the safety of people, goods and the common areas as well as avoiding unnecessary inconvenience to third parties.
Specifically, fireworks can only be made exceptionally on the beaches of San Pedro Alcántara, Nueva Andalucía (next to the Moragas area), El Cable, El Pinillo, Alicate and Real de Zaragoza.
Only the use of WOOD will be allowed as fuel for bonfires, and the burning of plastics, glass and other materials that may create danger or degrade the sand is strictly prohibited.
A safety distance of at least eight metres must be maintained and the launching of paper lanterns (or similar) is also strictly prohibited because of the fire risk and danger that they can pose.
For San Juan, the beach bars will also be able to carry out a controlled bonfire in the beach area adjacent to their facilities, with the owners being responsible for its safety and cleanliness, while guaranteeing that it is extinguished before 4:00 a.m.
To obtain authorisation, establishments must notify the Beaches delegation before June 16. The cleaning service will start working at 4:00 a.m., so the City Council requests participants in any activities vacate to allow the workers to perform their tasks.
On the beaches where the lighting of bonfires will be allowed, the public toilets located on the sand and on the Paseo Marítimo will remain open throughout the night, with additional cleaning staff for these facilities being employed for the festivities.
Finally, it is important the the beaches are left in perfect condition after the party of because a tractor trailer will also start operating at 04:00 am.
