The Carnival of San Pedro Alcántara will take place from Thursday 17th February to Sunday 19th February with the boulevard being one of the main areas. It and will have an extensive program for all audiences that will recover the ‘Cabalgata del Humor’.
It will have a number of outdoor activities aimed at both adults and children. The deputy mayor of San Pedro, Javier García, who presented the event together with the branch’s general director, Rubén Sánchez, pointed out that “we want it to be a highly participatory edition, which fills the streets with joy and colour and is also an incentive for the trade and restaurant sector”
The mayor has specified that the younger children will be the main protagonists of the first day, which will begin at 11:00 am with a great parade in which the schools will participate and which will tour the historic centre of San Pedro starting from Plaza de la Iglesia.
At 5pm in the boulevard amphitheatre, the children’s costume contest will take place.
On the 18th, at 6pm the Parade of Humor will be something that “has always had a great following and is recovering after two years of being static due to the pandemic.”
The itinerary includes Pablo Ruiz Picasso and Constitución avenues and San Miguel, Andalucía, Lagasca streets, ending at the boulevard. At 9:00 p.m. the costume contest has been scheduled in the adult category.
The closing of the Carnival will be on Sunday the 19th, starting at 1pm with the performance of the carnival groups on the boulevard, a space that will have food bars and children’s stalls.
As Sánchez has detailed, the local chirigota and formations as well known as ‘Los Viñanos by Manuel Santander and Sánchez Reyes will participate; ‘Los peliculeros’, by Jonathan Pérez, and ‘The Taliban Front of the Irreverent Republic of Kadikadistan’ by Vera Luque.
He also recalled that next Sunday the 11th, at 8:00 p.m., the La Alcoholera Cultural Center will host the musical ‘El Selu’.
