Shopping in La Colonia

If you are new to San Pedro Alcántara you might like to know about the town’s shopping centre. Although not as large as the usual shopping complex, it does have a perfect mix of shops, services and restaurants, and throughout the years has proven to be an ideal centre-point for all types of businesses due to its location.

Situated alongside the A7 road on the periphery of San Pedro at the western end of the boulevard, it is best known for being the home of McDonald’s, but there are many other interesting stores to visit, all located in an ample, free parking space.

La Colonia centre includes a big supermarket, Supermercado Día, which is open from 9:00 to 21:30hrs, and sells fresh vegetables and fruit, has its own butcher, as well as all the other supermarket necessities.

You can also find, an optician with the latest trends in glasses and contact lenses, Optica La Colonia, an English bookshop for all ages with games and gifts (The Bookshop), a florist (Lola’s floristería), with a grand selection of plants, flowers and home delivery, and everything you need in the golf shop (Golfino).

In front of these stores, set next to McDonald’s is a wonderful furniture shop – Banak Importa, King of Cotton, who provide soft bed linen, towels and other bedroom and bathroom accessories. It faces the front side of the centre in C/Virgen del Rocio. Next to this, is Verona Café serving coffees, full English breakfast as well as tapas, and following that is a herbal shop with natural products and cosmetics. On this side of the centre there is also an English greetings card shop including party accessories (Forget Me Not).

On the other side of the shopping centre, you will find a pet store and veterinary clinic next to an eco-clean laundry and dry cleaning store, a chic hairdresser with over 20 years experience. These are set on the back street of the shopping centre, side by side to a Georgian restaurant (Tiblisi) serving typical specialties. A wine shop with an ample selection of wines, champagnes and liquors, sits also next to the well-known Passion Café restaurant, which after 15 years of dedicated passion is still one of the most successful cafés around, serving as a meeting point for many.

But this is not all, as this seemingly ‘small’ shopping centre, also has many more businesses that have been running for years. Situated on the top level is the Apolo Gym Centre, an ample fitness centre with classes, personal training, yoga and fit boxing etc., a beauty centre for all kinds of beauty treatments, a physiotherapy and psychology health clinic that also provides other various health specialists, and even a children’s nursery where you can leave your kids while you are shopping in the area, doing a fitness class or enjoying a beauty treatment.

One of the latest additions to the centre is a fresh fruit and vegetable juice shop, offering the best selection of smoothies, protein shakes or juices. If on the other hand you have a sweet tooth, don’t forget about the doughnut café, with a yummy selection of bagels and doughnuts, a favourite among both children and adults!
